Mental Health and your Dog

As we come away from the many lockdowns from the pandemic we need to be looking to how our furry family members are dealing with the situation. Anxiety in our canine friends has dramatically increased lately.

Anxiety can look differently in each pet, such as, aggression, urinating or defecating in the house, drooling, panting, destructive behaviour, depression, excessive barking and or pacing.

Of late there have been stories of dogs jumping out of closed windows because they were so panicked.

Discussing your pet’s issues with your veterinarian making sure it’s not an illness causing some of these behaviours. Once they have confirmed that it is a behaviour issue they can suggest medications that may help your pet. Consider working with a trainer and yes there are therapists for our pets as well. Essential oils can be integrated into these modalities to help.

Essential oils will benefit both you and your dog during this time.
